Veterinary Assistant
Hi I'm Riley Smith and I have been part of the Conley and Koontz Equine Hospital team for the past 2 years as a Veterinary Assistant! My role includes helping with patient care, assisting with ambulatory calls, supporting the team during procedures, and anesthesia.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work I love kayaking and reading! I also really enjoy spending time with my dog!
Favorite Part of My Job
My favorite part about being a part of the team is watching our patients get better after staying up around the clock and making sure, they're feeling their best! I also love that I get to learn something new every day because not every day is the same! I love getting to see lacerations, lameness's, and surgeries!
Why I Chose This Profession
I chose this profession because I have a strong love for animals, and I really enjoy seeing them get better! One thing I've learned in this profession is that no case is the same and that every day is a new day!
Education
I studied at Murray State University for 4 years to become a Registered Veterinary Technician, and received my Bachelor's of Science in Agriculture. Although I'm not a Registered Veterinary Technician yet, I have future plans in finally receiving my vet tech license!
Work History
In summer of 2022, I started my first job at Pine Valley Vet Clinic! I also volunteered at Dare to Dream Youth Ranch all throughout highschool!
