The veterinarians at Conley and Koontz Equine Hospital recommend keeping all broodmares up to date on all vaccinations. Two vaccinations that are required in addition to the adult vaccinations are rotavirus and rhinopneumonitis. Rhinopneumonitis is a virus that should be boostered throughout the pregnancy to prevent abortion. Rotavirus is a vaccination that is boostered throughout pregnancy that helps prevent a deadly type of diarrhea in foals.
